My Derpy Theory

My Derpy Theory:

So it would seem Bronies are divided on a key issue.  What is her name?  Derpy Hooves? Derpy Do? Ditzy Do? Ditzy Hooves?  Well, after reading many fan theories about the series, after countless hours of day dreaming, I have come up with a little theory of my own.

So linked at the bottom of this Theory will be a link to my two drawings of the Do & Hooves families.  Let's start with the Dos, shall we?

Granny Do lives with Mama & Papa Do and at one point or another all seven Do sisters have lived there as well.  That's right, you read correctly.  Seven.  Let's start with the eldest, Daring Do.

Daring Do was her parents first foal, one of many little did they know.  Daring has all the characteristics of an elder child.  She's ambitious, she's adventurous, and she's a leader.  Her coloring comes from her Pappy Do who is no longer with the them.  Her cutie mark was earned when she discovered she had a knack for exploring and still knowing where she was.

Raindrop comes next as the second born.  She's a lovely little mare of pale yellow coat and turquoise mane.  She's quiet, always sticks to her tasks.  Very nurturing she always looks out for her younger sisters.  Her coloring is a combination of both her parents colorings.  Her cutie mark comes from her being very adept at creating and moving rain clouds.

Third and fourth in line is Cloudkicker and Showers.  Mama Do had no idea twins ran in her or Papa Dos family but she was pleased all the same.  Cloudkicker and Showers are extremely close and more introverted than their other sisters.  Their coloring is a combination of their parents.  Cloudkicker earned her cutie mark by, you guessed it, kicking clouds.  Or more specifically the ability to clear a sky with ease.  Showers earned hers in expanding on the various types of showers.  It is thought that she might have invented the "sprizzle", a drizzle mixed with a sprinkle, but many argue that it was a collaborative effort.  Either way she is dedicated to her job and loves to talk shop with Raindrop.

Fifth and Sixth were again twins, Derpy & Ditzy.  Their coloring is more reminiscent of their grandparents.  When they were first born both had "wall-eyed" eyes.  Eventually Ditzy's set themselves straight but Derpy remained the same.  Ditzy is very good at moving clouds, but often forgets where she put them.  Derpy loves to "cloud snorkel" a Pegasi sport of moving through rainclouds with only a snorkel to breath through.  She may be clumsy but she has a wonderful heart and is more than anxious to apologize for any accident she may cause.

Seventh is little Lightning that shares the coloring of a great-great grandparent and has been the recipient of a few side-long glances since she looks nothing like her sisters.  Lightning is good at well, lightning.  She lives in Cloudsdale coming up with various types of lightning as well as ways to make it safer for the ponies on the ground.  She has a quick temper but forgives easily.  Being the baby of the family she is often spoiled but she shares as much as she can with her sisters as a way to off-set it.

Now you might be saying, "So what?  Derpy Hooves is really Derpy Do?" or maybe cheering that someone agrees that is her name.  I am going to disappoint both of you.  This brings me to the Hooves family.  Now before I begin, I would like to point out that the spelling is in fact correct by Hasbro canon.  In their mobile game the character is clearly listed as "Dr. Hooves."  I will take this one step further by introducing you to...

Dr. Time T. Hooves (for the those of you not in the know, the second 'T' stands for "Turner") is a simple Earth Pony with an incredible ability to tell time.  Or specifically he's a scientist who studies time.  He popped up quite unexpectedly in Ponyville one year when a Miss Derpy Do took a fancy to him.  Many in the town of Ponyville say only Derpy knows his origins or where he's from or how he earned the title of Doctor.
Soon Dr. Hooves was unable to deny his mutual attraction with the lovely grey muffin-lovin' Pegasi.  He proposed to her and she said yes.  A couple years later they had Sparkler Hooves.  The poor filly's coat & horn set the gossips running for she looked nothing like either parent.  But Derpy with her infinite charm simply showed the town photos of a Unicorn grandmother who had a very pink coat.  She explained the purple hair must have come from her parents, after all, even Derpy's twin has purple hair!  Sparkler never had to endure the snide remarks surrounding her birth thanks to her mother's quick thinking.  Sparkler later in her life discovered a talent for gems and their various uses, specializing in diamonds.  

Dinky Hooves was an unexpected joy later in life.  Her coloring is very close to her mother's and shares some similarities to her Aunt Ditzy's coat.  Dinky has yet to earn her cutie mark but she is young yet.  She looks up to her sister Sparkler with a fierce admiration.  Even at a young age she took it upon herself to help her mother with her sense of direction.  The town is eternally grateful to this young Unicorn for that.

There you have it.  This is my theory.  Mind you, it is just that:  A theory.  If you have something to add to it, by all means please do.  If you found an error, please let me know.  If you are wanting to complain that it's nothing like so-and-so's theory or what'-their-name's ideas well then please don't post.  This is for fun about a fun show.  If you can't say something either constructive or nice then don't say anything at all.  Remember Bronies, Love and Tolerate.

So I leave you on this note, my explanation for why the fans are all so confused over her name.  I hope you enjoyed it or at least got a little chuckle out of it.
